I was wondering how things were going so thank you for sharing an update! I am sorry the home health folks are being so square about the girls! I know they need to screen for what are essentially "work place hazards" but still, anyone paying the tiniest bit of attention would see they are not a risk. It seems really unfair that you have to do such painful tasks to support their needs when they are supposed to be supporting yours! Like you said, I hope you find the right mix of ppl asap so you don't have to keep doing this. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks! I did get one health care aid yesterday who was great with me and the puppies. Lucy was ecstatically rubbing up against her as she scratched her rump. Everyone always says things like “oh she must smell food or some other dogs” and I always want to respond “nope! She is just a super friendly dog who loves people.”
Anyways, I conveyed to the agency that she was a particularly good fit and I’ll hopefully be seeing more of her.
I am glad to hear you are settling in, albeit bumpily. Would the caregivers be ok if the dogs were in a bedroom with the door closed? It does seem extreme, having to lock them up. They are not super aggressive or mean at all! Seriously. Hopefully you can find a fellow dog lover who will not mind them at all. It is great that you get this care for free for a bit, too bad not longer than 3 months, but it is still good to have access to. Hang in there, it is bound to get easier with time. :)
Unfortunately, most of my care happens in the bedroom, so that’s not really an option either. At the moment, I’m gritting my teeth against the pain to lock Lucy in her crate, but it really doesn’t feel fair to me or to her given that it is so unnecessary.
Congratulations!! So happy to see you in your home. Best wishes for all the kinks to get worked out. Thanks for sharing this journey with us. It has been very meaningful to read!
YAY - huge congratulations Athena and relief for your release onto freedom road. Loved every word of this account and the new challenges surrounding you. Onward dear artist! 🥰
So glad you're back home!
