I loved this entry. Hearing about your journey is interesting and also inspirational. Thank you for not giving up! I look forward to reading your first (of many) novels!

Congratulations Athena on writing your first draft. It took me over seven years to write my first book. I did self-publishing and went through all the editing steps. I also had some "beta readers" which were some family members and a friend. But mine was based on my life not on fantasy. The book sold very well until I got hit by a car and then the pandemic. For the last couple of years I've been doing book signings again and to date I have sold over 600 copies. It's possible to go into a bookstore and ask to do a book signing once it's published. They usually take 45% and you keep the rest. I do this with Indigo. As a self-published author I have to do my own marketing and advertising, which can be done various social platforms! Hope this info helps! :)

Thanks, Monica! I'm glad to hear that your book has done so well.

For Fantasy novels, it seems to be as much about digital books as physical books. Amazon KDP allows one to simultaneously publish across Kindle, eBook and also physical books as well. From what I understand, one can even get paid by the number of words a user reads on their Kindle. It's not much, but similar to how musicians get paid a tiny amount when a user listens to their music on Spotify or other streaming platforms.

Perhaps you might consider a digital re-issue of your memoir to further grow your audience. :)
