My fingers are crossed and I hope you get a service dog. I applied approximately three years ago but was declined. They are afraid that the dog might break a bone because they can’t predict how a dog will react especially when outside. I’m going to ask if I can apply again or try with a different assistance dog organization.
Hey, thanks for that insight. I can certainly understand the concern since it's one I have as well. I've only had smaller dogs in my care as an adult -- Lola was 12lbs and Lucy is about 20lbs -- and I attach the retractable leash to my chair to ensure that if they do bolt after something, I can drop the leash without worrying about them getting too far.
The trainer and I discussed during the interview how PADS doesn't recommend attaching the dog to the chair since they are strong enough to potentially pull the chair over. You're supposed to drop the leash and rely on recall, but I also know how easily a dog can go from sniffing happily to rushing to greet another dog that I haven't seen coming up behind me.

In any case, definitely something to consider.
Crossed my fingers oh so tightly - crossed my dogs paws too. Again, as always, you widened the world for me dear Athena.
I really hope you succeed in getting a service dog. It's amazing what they can do.
I sincerely hope you get your own service dog Athena. You are an amazing, honest person and I admire you. Keep on keeping on!
